Santé honors individuals who exhibit outstanding
professional achievement in food, wine, and spirits service

San Francisco, CA – November 30, 2007, Paul Shenkman, proprietor of Sam’s Chowder House in Half Moon Bay, California is thrilled to announce that Leslie Martin, Bar Manager, has been awarded the 2007 Western Region Sante Magazine Service Professional Award of the year. Sponsored in 2007 by Beam Wine Estates and Nestle Waters North America, the Sante Awards program is the only peer-judged restaurant and hospitality competition in North America. The Sante Restaurant Awards are chosen on a variety of criteria and winners represent a broad spectrum of restaurant- and hospitality-industry professionals with a common passion for their work and a commitment to excellence.

The Award recipients were honored for their achievements at the Silverado Resort in Napa, California earlier this month, where noted wine and service educator Evan Goldstein, MS, addressed the attendees at the gala dinner. “Leslie is a fantastic addition to our staff, and I’m very proud of her for winning this award,” says Shenkman. “With Leslie, it’s all about the customer – what they want and need, and how she can best serve them.”

Set on the magnificent California coastline in Half Moon Bay, with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, Sam’s Chowder House provides guests with the only outdoor oceanfront dining experience in the Bay Area. Offering a casual and authentic New England-style seafood experience, Sam’s Chowder House features a daily selection of fresh fish— grilled or sautéed to perfection, an array of delicious seafood dishes such as authentic lobster rolls, live Maine lobster and fresh local crab, a raw bar, and a variety of local specialties. Sam’s famous lobster roll was selected as one of the top five “Best Sandwiches in America” by NBC’s The Today Show.

Sam’s Chowder House is located at 4210 North Cabrillo Highway and is accessible from Highway One, from the harbor, or directly from the beach. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Friday from 11:30am – 9:00pm, Saturday from 11:00am – 9:30pm, and Sunday from 11:00am – 9:00pm.
