We plan to be open in a few weeks for outdoor dining, but are busy retro-fitting the restaurant to meet the health and safety guidelines required.  At this time, we are not taking advance reservations.  Please check back on our website, or follow us on Facebook or Instagram for the latest news about reopening. 

Please be aware that there is NO BEACH ACCESS from Sam’s at this time, and MASKS are REQUIRED to enter the restaurant.

    We will email or text you when your order is ready (include mobile# in notes). Please remain in your car. When your order is ready, drive by the front and a we’ll hand you your order. Please do not congregate in the parking lot.

  • VISIT US and order in person. Only two people at a time can enter, keeping a safe social distance.

Discounted beer and wine, as well as pre-packaged cocktails are available for takeout, but you must order at the restaurant. Follow our Facebook or Instagram pages for updates.

  • On the coast, in Moss Beach at the Chevron station most days, and in the Ocean Colony neighborhood on Wednesdays 4:30-7:30.

We are following the health and sanitary guidelines of the San Mateo County Health Department, and other local and government authorities. Please also be aware that gatherings pose a heightened risk of COVID-19 transmission, and that older adults and individuals with existing health conditions are at particularly serious risk if they contract COVID-19 and should not attend. Crash a Wedding at Sam's Chowder House - If possible, make it a wedding catered with their Lobster Clambake (you know, wooden steamer box on a bed of hot coals packed with fresh whole Maine lobster, clams, mussels, red potatoes, fresh corn on the cob, and Andouille sausage, layered w/seaweed blankets -- way better than a Clam Clambake). They've refurbed the back patio with heat lamps and more seats, so there'll be more place for you to be cozy/unobtrusive.
